What worked for the kids
- Cosy bunk-bed room just off the lounge — perfect for storytime.
- Woodland deck for morning run-around; estate paths are buggy-friendly.
- Quick lounge menu (pizzas/burgers) when hanger hits.
What we loved as parents
- Two heated outdoor tubs with the (very real) Booze Button for room service.
- Peaceful treetop setting; proper blackout for early bedtimes.
- Excellent breakfast — generous and genuinely accommodating with kids.
Vibe: Laid-back luxury — more “posh cabin in the woods” than traditional hotel (in the best way).
Food & drink (on site)
- Hook by Martin Burge — relaxed seafood-leaning menu; family-welcoming.
- Bar & Lounges — burgers, hot dogs, salads and soft-serve; great for quick kid dinners.
- Breakfast: Excellent range; friendly team; highchairs and fuss-free service.
Things to do nearby (family-friendly)
- Broadway Tower — big views; combine with a village playground stop.
- GWSR heritage railway (Broadway) — steam trains = instant smiles.
- Cotswold Farm Park — animals, play areas and seasonal events.
- Batsford Arboretum — shady walks for nap-friendly loops.
Tip: Do the outdoor bits early; save the lounges and board games for the heat (or rain) window.
Family tips (what we wish we’d known)
- Booze Button intel: It works from the bath deck — keep towels and plastic cups handy for little splashers.
- Sleep: White-noise app + a small nightlight for the bunk room helps.
- Footwear: Trainers for woodland paths; the deck gets chilly after dark.
- Rain plan: Retreat to the lounges for snacky lunches and board games.
- EV/parking: On-site parking; check at reception for charger availability.
Our travel tech that helped
- Portable router: ZTE MU5120 + EU-roaming SIM for bedtime stories without buffering.
- Chargers: Multi-port USB-C and MagSafe to cut socket chaos.
- Kids’ headphones: Volume-limited models for early mornings.
- Trackers: AirTags in the toy bag and suitcase.
- Cable tidy: Pouch to keep the deck clear of leads.
FAQs about The Fish (Treehouse)
Can the treehouse fit a family of four?
Yes — treehouses are set up for 2 adults + 2 children, with a separate bunk-bed room for kids.
Is the Booze Button real?
Yes — there’s an intercom by the outdoor baths so you can order drinks/room service from the deck.
Is breakfast worth it with kids?
We found it excellent: friendly team, good range, and flexible for little appetites.
Do you need a car?
Useful but not essential. With a car you’ll easily reach Broadway Tower, GWSR and farm parks. Taxis can be arranged via reception.
Any noise from neighbouring huts/treehouses?
It’s generally quiet; the units are thoughtfully spaced, and the woodland setting helps.
