Don’t buy an iPad on Amazon before reading this post

With Amazon Prime Day looming (16/17th July 2024), you may be writing your ‘want’ lists but before you go purchasing an Apple iPad on Amazon, here are some top tips.

Apple iPad Buying Top Tips

Whilst we’ve still got a few days left until Amazon Prime Day on the 16th and 17th July 2024, it is always known that Amazon have some great deals on iPads all the way through the year, depending on the model that you are looking for.

It is usually found that these special prices on the Apple iPad don’t change much when Prime Day hits, even as of today you can save £30 on an Apple 2022 10.9-inch iPad with WiFi and 64gb of storage.

And whilst you don’t save any money currently on the 2024 models, you still have the backup of Amazon’s amazing customer service, not that we’re knocking Apple, but we’ve had some brilliant results from issues that have risen from various products including a set of Apple AirPod Pro’s, no quibble just a refund!

Do your homework

Never rush in to buying an iPad, just like the recent Apple MacBooks, once you’ve have opted for one you can upgrade their storage or features. 64gb which is there standard storage space is tight, we’d always opt for as much as you can afford. Even our latest 2024 M4 Apple iPad Pro is 1tb although this is mainly because we wanted the nano-texture glass.

If you do a lot of photo editing, video editing, etc then go for the M4 iPad Pro, it completely outperforms most laptops, even some of Apple’s, although Final Cut Pro can prove fiddly.

For light work, word documents, social media scrolling and other light creative work the latest 2024 M2 iPad Air is enough, you don’t even need to go for the latest models, the older ones are good enough for this.

WiFi or Wifi + Cellular

Another option you need to consider is whether you need the WiFi only version or if you also need cellular access built in. With most pairing of iPads and iPhones, you can tether (if your data allowance and/or package allows) so the cellular option isn’t worth paying out for, plus you’d have to add a PAYG sim or monthly contract.

The latest iPads do not have a SIM slot, so if you did opt for the cellular version, you need to choose a mobile data provider that offers these as an option.

iPad Pricing

Type in ‘iPad’ into Amazon and you will be presented with quite a few options, including Android tablets. Before you add anything into your basket, double check the year of the iPad, Storage and whether it is WiFi or WiFi+Cellular.

You can also check prices against Apple’s own retail website, if you want engraving on the iPad this will be your only avenue, but how many times will you look at your name on the back and don’t forget that in 2 years when you sell it, the engraving won’t mean anything to anyone else.

Be Realistic with Prime Day Deals

With all Prime Day deals, it can be very difficult to work out whether you are getting a good price or not, so before the actual day, jot down the current prices and then take a look on the day to see how they compare.

Discounts on the older iPads tend to be between £30 and £70, bare that in mind and the latest iPads may or may not be discounted.

Check out retailers

Whilst Amazon does have some amazing prices on their Prime Days, don’t forget that there other retailers and some who offer their own special deals. Currys is one of these retailers who has some cracking deals at the moment, although not always on Apple products.

John Lewis is another retailer and whilst they don’t always have the best prices, additional warranties and excellent customer service make these a standout company to deal with.

Don’t forget Very, whilst not always at the forefront of buying electrical goods, they have some excellent offers and financing options which are worth looking at.

Conclusion

For those who love a bargain, Prime Day is excellent, but not always when it comes to Apple products and especially iPads. Accessories are always something to look out for including Apple AirPod Pro, Keyboards, etc. Don’t forget to check out the top 9 iPad Accessories.

Make sure you do your research before you press the buy button and don’t skimp on storage.
